How To Successfully Organise Bridesmaid Makeup

How To Successfully Organise Bridesmaid Makeup

You’ve got your style sorted…but what about your bridesmaids’ hair and makeup? Granted, they’re going to want to look their best, so it’s important to pre-plan to make sure everything goes smoothly on the morning of your big day.

Follow these simple tips on how to organise bridesmaid makeup to ensure that everyone manages to stay calm and collected as you get to work on one of the most important parts of your getting-ready regime.

One mirror is never enough

Lots of girls in one dressing room = mirror crowding. On the morning of your wedding, it’s imperative that you have several mirrors to hand. Ideally, you’ll have one for each girl, so that you’re not fighting for mirror space. Choose your favourite beauty palettes and leave them ready for each bridesmaid to manage her touch-ups. This is also a perfect way for her to sneak away and gently amend any parts of her makeup that her artist didn’t quite execute in the way she may have envisaged.

Keep a hair saviour on hand

If everyone is washing their hair in the morning, using a quick dry towel will cut drying time in half. Wrap your hair in this straight from the shower, and by the time you’ve thrown a dressing gown on and made a cup of tea, hair will be semi-dry. Then, post-blow dry, set the hair in rollers or clips. Hair holds the shape it cools to, so allowing styled hair to cool through the makeup application will set it for the day.

Map out skincare regimes

Skincare is one of the most crucial factors when it comes to bridesmaid makeup because it will largely influence how your makeup sits and lasts throughout the day. Ideally, you want each bridesmaid to use a great:

  • Eye cream
  • Serum
  • Moisturiser
  • Lip balm

And this has to happen before any makeup can be applied.

But having your makeup artist apply all of these steps will take a fair amount of time. Leave a regime out for each bridesmaid to apply in her own time; if it comes to it, they can work their product in during hair styling. This way, their artist can get straight to work.

Do a trial of your bridesmaid makeup

With lots of bridesmaids to please, it’s important to create a simple makeup look that everyone will feel comfortable in. But don’t wait until the morning of the wedding for one person to request a feline flick and another to opt for a statement lip. Pre-plan a classic bridesmaid makeup look that will work for everyone and stick to it on the morning of the wedding. Neutral tones will suit all complexions and you won’t go wrong.

Appoint a wing woman (who’s not your maid of honour)

On the morning of the wedding, you may need a wing woman to ensure that all things are going to schedule. I know you have a Maid of Honour, but everyone in your party knows her, and she will have a lot of things on her to-do list for the big day. The morning of your wedding is the opportunity you will have on this day to sit quietly, find a moment of pause and take in the day ahead. Let your wing woman make sure that everything is running smoothly while you take five with a soothing, self-heating mask.
