Here are 8 things you need to know before jetting off on your honeymoon.
Your wedding day might be done but you’ve still got your honeymoon to look forward too. But hold on a second, because you’ve still got a few things to do!
These are the 8 things you need to get ticked off your list before you go on your honeymoon trip.
You’ve spent hours, days, even months finding your perfect wedding dress. It’s your pride and joy and you want to keep it that way. So the sooner you have your dress cleaned the better. You really don’t want to wait until you get back from your honeymoon trip. If you’re leaving straight after your wedding, ask a family member or your maid of honour to take it to the cleaners for you.
Be sure to return all the hired suits together – not one at a time. This is traditionally a job for the best man, but it can go to whoever wants to take responsibility for it. All suits need to be returned together including the groom and all the groomsmen. The company you hired the suits from will appreciate you returning the suits together and quickly.
On the day of your wedding, give someone the task of collecting your presents from the reception venue. This could be one of the groomsmen or bridesmaids. Ask them to leave the gifts at your house so you can collect them before your honeymoon trip or keep them safe until you return.
If you’ve already paid your suppliers before the wedding, you can skip to step 5. If you haven’t then you should definitely pay them before you leave for your honeymoon trip. This is also the perfect opportunity to thank them or to discuss any concerns you may have while they’re fresh in your mind.
If you’re going down the DIY route and you’re planning to use your own decorative items and props, be sure to collect them from the venue the day after your wedding. If you can’t, ask your maid of honour, a groomsmen or family member to collect them on your behalf. Most venues won’t have the storage space to keep your items (and may even have another wedding the day after yours!) That’s why we highly recommend you collect them the day after.
If you have any cake leftover that is! If you do, you’ll want to make sure you or someone you trust boxes up the remaining cake and distributes it to family and close friends. Purchase the cake boxes before the wedding to save yourself time and make your life easier.
You might think it’s best to wait until you get back from your honeymoon trip to send out your thank you cards. But trust us – doing it before you go means there’s a lot less work to do when you get back. Remembering who you have to send them to will be a lot easier straight after the wedding rather than two weeks later. And don’t forget to thank all your suppliers!
