How To Style Your Wedding Room Decoration With Pumpkins

Your slice of autumnal decor is right here.

How To Style Your Wedding Room Decoration With Pumpkins

Autumn is well and truly here and that means we’re seeing pumpkins everywhere. We’re massive fans of pumpkins here at The Wedding Gallery, especially for weddings at this time of year.

Pumpkins are fairly inexpensive and you can use them in so many ways for wedding room decoration. From centrepieces to signage, pumpkins can be incorporated so easily into your autumn wedding – without that spooky horror movie feel. Today we’re sharing some contemporary and creative ways that you can have the prettiest pumpkin decor at your wedding.

Style your aisle

Wedding room decoration starts with your aisle. You can line it or even the entrance to your church with pumpkins, autumn leaves and fall flowers.

Pretty pumpkin table centrepieces

Instead of flowers why not use autumnal fruit for pumpkin centrepieces and runners? You can use an array of shades to run them along the table as they are, or surround them with candles or blooms for a professionally styled table centrepiece.

Pumpkin flower arrangements

Flower arrangements absolutely make your wedding room decoration. And using flowers inside of pumpkin vases make beautiful autumn wedding centrepieces. Here’s a quick DIY tutorial for how to turn pumpkins into pretty vases:

  • Hollow out the centres as you would to carve your pumpkin
  • Add floral foam inside
  • Fill with fresh autumnal flowers

Pumpkin wedding signage

Your wedding room decoration isn’t completely without wedding signage. You can use pumpkins as your base for small-worded signage – we love the idea of a welcome sign or a sweet Mr and Mrs duo. There’s even the option for you to use them for small menu items and table numbers.

Pumpkin escort cards and favours

Mini pumpkins and gourds can also be used as escort displays, place settings or used as autumn wedding favours. Use mini white or orange pumpkins, or even paint them gold or another colour to match your scheme.

Where to find pumpkins for your wedding

  • Your local vegetable store – if you need large quantities, you can ask them to order them for you in advance. The smaller pumpkins are often referred to as gourds and these can be ordered through your florist.
  • Pick your own Pumpkin farms – there should be plenty around your area.
  • If you are struggling to find an array of sizes or styles, you can always look for faux pumpkins at party stores or shops like Home Sense or TK Maxx and spray your own colours.

Top tips on using pumpkins for your wedding room decoration

  • You don’t want a Halloween feel so skip the jack-o-lantern style carvings and black accents. But if you do want to do some carving, make sure you do it the day before. Any earlier and the pumpkin can start to droop or worse, go mouldy!
  • Leave yourself plenty of time in the days leading up to the wedding to carve or do DIY projects on them.
  • From tiny pumpkins that fit into your hand, to huge squash versions, they come in a beautiful rainbow of oranges – but you can also find pumpkins in green and white.
  • Pair your pumpkins with other autumnal fruits. They look great with squash, gourds, persimmons, apples, and pears.
