Wedding Websites: This Is Everything You Need To Know

Wedding websites are super popular right now and setting one up might be one of the first things you do when you get engaged. Apart from taking that engagement ring selfie…

Wedding websites are a great way to lay the foundation of what your wedding day is going to be like. It also gives guests a sneak look at what to expect. So to help you create one that you’re happy with, we’ve got some top tips you can use.

Relate it to your theme

There are so many different options that you can choose from when it comes to wedding websites. The templates you’ll find are usually really modern and easy to customise. It’s a good idea to have your wedding theme in mind so you can create a website to represent that.

Take a look at different options to find the layout you like best and you’ll usually get a walkthrough so you can effortlessly create the website you want. It’ll be easier than you think to create one that’s personal.

Don’t include all the details

You still want your wedding day to be a surprise for your guests, so don’t be afraid to leave a few things out on your website (we’re talking about embarrassing photos as well as details of the day!)

You’ll also want to make sure you proofread the website and check for any spelling mistakes. Double check all addresses and other details are correct – you don’t want anyone getting lost!

Make sure you cover the basics

Wedding websites are great for a few reasons.

This is a really easy way to give guests important information that might not be included with the invitation, like directions and accommodation suggestions. So on your website, make sure you include the location, date, and how to get there.

Don’t forget people who are travelling and include details for them too. If you reserve rooms at a hotel, be sure to let them know what they need to do. You can also include other recommendations, plus other things to do and places to eat if they’re staying in your town or city for a few days.

Wedding websites are also great for adding more information that guests want to know, like the people in your wedding party. Your website should act as a hub for your wedding that guests can visit to get the information they need.

Make it personal

Let your friends and family get to know you better by giving them some information about you and your soon-to-be spouse. This can also be helpful for friends or distant relatives who might not know one of you that well.

Here are a few things to include:

  • The story of how you met
  • Your proposal story
  • A few of your favourite photographs together

Don’t go overboard with information

The key to wedding websites is to give your guests a teaser, but not tell them everything. That also goes for your personal touches too – don’t tell them your life story!

Add a note about gifts

Wedding websites are also a great way for you to give people advice on what gifts you’re looking for. You can even add direct links. Or if you want donations towards your honeymoon, you can give guests instructions on how to do that.

You can go all out if you want to

If you want to cut costs and save paper, you can even get guests to RSVP online and collect their plus one information at the same time. You can add customised pages to your website and remember…don’t forget the wedding countdown timer!
